Job summary

The Hillgrove Hotel & Spa in Monaghan is seeking an Assistant Bar Manager to support day-to-day bar operations and the hotel’s function bars. You will lead the bar team, ensure high guest service standards, and work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and the Events team.

You will oversee weddings, conferences and events, coordinate stock and duties, and mentor junior colleagues while upholding licensing, safety, and service standards across all bar areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy hotel/bar/restaurant or hospitality environment.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience in a bar operation.
• Experience working with functions, weddings or events is desirable.
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of bar operations, beverages and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Bar Operations & Guest Experience: manage day-to-day bar and function/event bar operations, maintain service standards and guest care.
• Team Leadership: supervise bartenders and bar staff, briefings, allocate duties and training.
• Functions & Events: coordinate bar setup, staffing, stock, and event timing with Meetings & Events.
• Stock & Financial Controls: assist with stock management, waste control, stocktakes and till reconciliation.
• Standards, Health & Safety & Compliance: ensure cleanliness, licensing compliance, HACCP and safety procedures.
