Job summary

Progressive Credit Union is seeking a part-time Financial Accountant for 24 hours per week, based in Balbriggan with travel across the branch network as required. The role reports to the Treasury & Finance Manager and focuses on financial reporting, controls, compliance, and analysis to support strategic decisions and liquidity management.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA).
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
• Experience working in a regulated financial services environment is desirable.
• Detail oriented and well organized.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
• Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory returns within required deadlines.
• Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, loan portfolios, and member savings accounts.
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity, providing reports and forecasts to senior management.
• Prepare management reports and financial presentations for the Board of Directors and management committees.
