Job summary

QCS Staffing is sourcing an Automation Engineer for a client in Ireland, Roscommon, on an initial 12-month contract. The candidate will own end-to-end IT/OT project delivery and coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet scope, schedule and budget.

The role requires hands-on expertise with PLC/SCADA systems (Siemens, Schneider), Ignition, Aveva PI and MES (PAS-X) where available, plus knowledge of ITIL processes and project governance to ensure compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in automation engineering for life sciences or similar industries.
• Experience with end-to-end IT/OT project delivery and coordination across multiple teams.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes related to project/service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of IT/OT projects from initiation through handover, including scope, schedule, budget, resources and benefits realization.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security & infrastructure, vendors and system integrators to align objectives and delivery plans.
• Lead requirements gathering and solution design support for OT systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking) and IT integrations.
• Ensure safety and compliance requirements are embedded in delivery (change control, permit-to-work, site access, and operational readiness).

Our client, a global pharmaceutical company, are looking for an Automation Engineer to support the delivery their project based in Ireland. The company has grown to become a world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of innovative pharmaceutical products to alleviate some of the world’s biggest health problems.

What You’ll Deliver

• Work Package Ownership of end-to-end delivery of specific IT/OT projects from initiation through handover, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, and benefits realisation.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security & infrastructure, vendors, and system integrators to align objectives and delivery plans
• Lead requirements gathering and solution design support for OT systems (e.g., PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking) and related IT integrations (e.g., Enterprise applications, cloud/edge, data platforms).
• Ensure safety and compliance requirements are embedded in delivery (e.g., change control, permit-to-work, site access, and operational readiness).

Experience required

• Extensive experience
• Experience with PLC & SCADA (Siemens, Schneider), Computerised Equipment, Ignition, ThinManager, Aveva PI, and similar Manufacturing Solution Applications. Experience with MES solutions (PAS-X) an advantage
• Working knowledge of Active Directory application Design, and implementation
• Knowledge of ITIL processes relating to Project and Service Delivery (ServiceNOW)
• Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies and practical application of governance, controls, and reporting.
