Job summary

Quanta Consultancy Services Ltd seeks a Junior Automation Engineer to join a life sciences project based in Roscommon, Ireland. You will support IT/OT delivery, contribute to validation, and help implement PLC/SCADA/DCS and MES components under GMP guidelines.

The role is a 12-month initial contract, offering hands-on experience in cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security, and system integration.

Qualifications

• Graduate qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Computer, IT, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience in IT and/or OT environments, ideally with manufacturing, automation exposure.
• Awareness of Pharma lifecycle processes and FDA regulated environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support Work Package Ownership activities for IT/OT project deliverables from initiation through handover, including tracking scope, schedule, actions, documentation, and status updates.
• Assist with coordination across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security and infrastructure, vendors, and system integrators to support aligned delivery plans.
• Support requirements gathering and solution design activities for OT systems such as PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking, and related IT integrations.
• Help ensure safety and compliance requirements are considered during delivery, including change control, permit-to-work, site access, and operational readiness inputs.

Our client, a global pharmaceutical company, are looking for a Junior Automation Engineer to support the delivery their project based in Ireland. The company has grown to become a world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of innovative pharmaceutical products to alleviate some of the world's biggest health problems.

What you'll deliver:

• Support Work Package Ownership activities for defined IT/OT project deliverables from initiation through handover, including tracking scope, schedule, actions, documentation, and status updates.
• Assist with coordination across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security and infrastructure, vendors, and system integrators to support aligned delivery plans.
• Support requirements gathering and solution design activities for OT systems such as PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking, and related IT integrations.
• Help ensure safety and compliance requirements are considered during delivery, including change control, permit-to-work, site access, and operational readiness inputs.

Experience required:

• Graduate qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Computer, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Extensive experience in IT and/or OT environments, ideally with exposure to manufacturing, automation, control systems, or plant networks.
• Basic understanding of project delivery methodologies, documentation control, governance, reporting, and change management.
• Awareness of Pharma lifecycle processes, FDA regulated environments, GAMP, commissioning, cutover, and operational readiness is desirable.
