Job summary

Quanta Consultancy Services Ltd. seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to support life sciences projects in Ireland, based in Roscommon.

The role covers end-to-end IT/OT delivery for PLC/SCADA/DCS systems, MES integrations, and data platforms, with emphasis on safety, cybersecurity and quality throughout the project lifecycle. Candidates should bring strong OT experience, familiarity with Aveva PI, Ignition, ThinManager and related manufacturing solutions, plus ITIL process knowledge for project

Qualifications

• Strong and relevant experience in automation engineering for pharma/manufacturing.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA/DCS implementations and OT/IT integration.
• Knowledge of MES systems, especially PAS-X, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based project and service delivery processes.

Senior Automation Engineer – Ireland, Roscommon – Initial 12-Month Contract – Life Sciences

Our client, a global pharmaceutical company, are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to support the delivery their project based in Ireland. The company has grown to become a world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of innovative pharmaceutical products to alleviate some of the world’s biggest health problems.

What you’ll deliver:

• Lead Work Package Ownership for end-to-end delivery of significant IT/OT projects from initiation through handover, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, dependencies, and benefits realisation.


• Drive coordination with engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security and infrastructure, vendors, and system integrators to align objectives, resolve delivery issues, and maintain clear execution plans.


• Lead requirements gathering and provide solution design oversight for OT systems such as PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking, and related IT integrations including enterprise applications, cloud/edge, and data platforms.


• Ensure safety, compliance, cybersecurity, and quality requirements are embedded throughout delivery, including change control, permit-to-work, site access, commissioning, cutover, and operational readiness.

Experience required:

• Strong and relevant experience.


• Hardware/Software: Strong experience with PLC and SCADA systems such as Siemens or Schneider, Computerised Equipment, Ignition, ThinManager, Aveva PI, and similar Manufacturing Solution Applications. Experience with MES solutions such as PAS-X is an advantage.


• Working knowledge of Active Directory application design, implementation, and integration with manufacturing or OT systems.


• Knowledge of ITIL processes relating to Project and Service Delivery, including ServiceNow, with experience applying these processes in a project environment.
