Job summary

QCS Staffing seeks a Junior Automation Engineer for a life sciences project based in Roscommon, Ireland. The role supports delivery of IT/OT project work packages from initiation through handover, coordinating across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security and system integrators.

The ideal candidate holds a graduate qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Computer, IT or Engineering and has exposure to manufacturing or plant networks.

Qualifications

• Graduate qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Computer, IT, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience or exposure to IT/OT environments in manufacturing or process settings.
• Familiarity with project delivery basics, documentation governance, and change management.
• Awareness of Pharma lifecycle processes, FDA regulated environments, GAMP and commissioning is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support IT/OT Work Package Ownership activities from initiation through handover, tracking scope, schedule and actions.
• Coordinate across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security, vendors and system integrators to align delivery plans.
• Gather requirements and assist with solution design for OT systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking).
• Ensure safety and compliance inputs are considered, including change control, permit-to-work, site access and operational readiness.

Junior Automation Engineer – Ireland, Roscommon – Initial 12-Month Contract – Life Sciences

Our client, a global pharmaceutical company, are looking for a Junior Automation Engineer to support the delivery their project based in Ireland. The company has grown to become a world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of innovative pharmaceutical products to alleviate some of the world’s biggest health problems.

What You’ll Deliver

• Support Work Package Ownership activities for defined IT/OT project deliverables from initiation through handover, including tracking scope, schedule, actions, documentation, and status updates.
• Assist with coordination across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT security and infrastructure, vendors, and system integrators to support aligned delivery plans.
• Support requirements gathering and solution design activities for OT systems such as PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES, OT networking, and related IT integrations.
• Help ensure safety and compliance requirements are considered during delivery, including change control, permit-to-work, site access, and operational readiness inputs.

Experience required:

• Graduate qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Computer, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Extensive experience in IT and/or OT environments, ideally with exposure to manufacturing, automation, control systems, or plant networks.
• Basic understanding of project delivery methodologies, documentation control, governance, reporting, and change management.
• Awareness of Pharma lifecycle processes, FDA regulated environments, GAMP, commissioning, cutover, and operational readiness is desirable.
