Job summary

John Sisk & Son is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a major energy infrastructure project in Ireland. You will assist with financial and contractual management under supervision and work with the Commercial Manager and Senior QS.

The ideal candidate holds a Degree in Quantity Surveying, understands the SMM, communicates effectively and is highly organised. This role offers exposure to infrastructure, utilities and energy contracts within a supportive,

Qualifications

• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively.
• Familiarity with the Standard Method of Measurement (SMM).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships.
• Demonstrates commercial awareness and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial team in day-to-day duties.
• Assist with the preparation of tenders including measurement, packaging and analysis.
• Assist with variations, valuations and final accounts under supervision.
• Prepare subcontractor valuations and final accounts with guidance.
• Carry out site measurement and maintain accurate records and control documents.
• Monitor progress on site and report on commercial impacts.
• Attend site and subcontractor meetings as required.
• Contribute to cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and cash management under supervision.
• Assist with the implementation of the commercial strategy.
• Ensure risk and opportunity are considered during all commercial activities.
• Act professionally at all times and support the commercial team in upholding company standards.
• Gain experience in traditional contracts with some responsibility.
• Gain exposure, without full responsibility, to subcontractor negotiations, contract law interpretation, and design and build contracts.
