Job summary

Darwin Hawkins is seeking an experienced payroll professional to join a large manufacturing business in Ireland. The role covers Irish and UK payroll with potential to take on more responsibility over time.

You will review inputs, ensure data accuracy, process changes, produce payroll reports, and support pensions and statutory deductions. Hybrid working and a strong benefits package are offered as you develop toward a leadership role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of Irish payroll; UK exposure is advantageous.
• In-house payroll experience is preferred.
• Ability to review inputs and ensure data accuracy before processing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple employee groups.
• Review payroll inputs and verify employee information before each run.
• Process changes to pay, allowances and deductions; resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare payroll reports and support pension and statutory payments.

Our Client

Our client is a large manufacturing business with an established presence in Ireland and a sizeable employee base.

They are looking to strengthen their payroll team with an experienced professional who can bring strong technical payroll knowledge, confidence working with complex employee data and the potential to take on greater responsibility over time.

Who should apply?

• Payroll professional with at least 5 years' relevant experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of Irish payroll, with UK payroll exposure highly advantageous.
• IPASS, CIPP or a similar payroll qualification preferred.
• Experience gained within an in-house payroll environment would be an advantage.
• Comfortable working with sizeable payroll populations and regular employee changes.
• Strong ability to review payroll inputs, identify data issues and ensure information is accurate before processing.
• Good knowledge of payroll reconciliations, pensions, deductions and statutory requirements.
• Ambitious individual who is keen to broaden their responsibilities and progress into team leadership.

Role and Reporting Lines

• Supporting the delivery of weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple employee groups.
• Reviewing payroll inputs and checking employee information before each payroll run.
• Processing changes relating to pay, allowances, deductions and other payroll adjustments.
• Investigating payroll differences and ensuring issues are resolved accurately and promptly.
• Supporting the administration of pensions, statutory payments and payroll-related deductions.
• Producing payroll reports and assisting with payroll payment processes.
• Acting as a point of contact for employee payroll queries and providing clear responses.
• Helping maintain strong payroll controls and supporting internal and external audit requirements.
• Liaising with HR, Finance and other internal teams on payroll-related matters.
• Contributing to improvements in payroll processes, systems and ways of working.
• Building additional responsibility within the team with the opportunity to move into payroll management over time.
