Job summary

Ariel House in Ireland is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in day-to-day operations and guest-focused service. The role demands hands-on leadership across Front Office, Housekeeping, and F&B, maintaining high standards while guiding colleagues and ensuring smooth running of the property.

You will monitor guest satisfaction, lead by example, manage schedules, training and planning, and step in during the GM’s absence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager with day-to-day operation.
  • Maintain a visible management presence and guide colleagues across departments.
  • Coordinate daily operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B and other areas.
  • Ensure high standards of guest service, cleanliness, presentation and hospitality.
  • Welcome guests and handle their needs professionally.
  • Respond to feedback and resolve concerns promptly.
  • Support teams during busy periods and provide practical assistance.
  • Assist with scheduling, daily briefings, training and development.
  • Monitor standards and identify opportunities to improve the guest experience.
  • Assist with stock control, cost management and use of hotel resources.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety and fire safety.
  • Support GM with admin duties, reporting and planning.
  • Assume responsibility in the GM’s absence.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive working environment.

Job description

Ariel House is looking for a hands-on, guest-focused and highly organised Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the property. This is an all-round operational management role, ideal for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys being visible, supporting colleagues and ensuring that every aspect of the guest experience runs smoothly. Working closely with the General Manager, you will provide support across all departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and general property operations. You will lead by example, respond confidently to operational challenges and help maintain the warm, personal service for which Ariel House is known.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of Ariel House.
  • Maintain a visible management presence and provide guidance to colleagues across all departments.
  • Coordinate daily operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and other operational areas.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of guest service, cleanliness, presentation and hospitality.
  • Welcome guests and ensure their individual needs and requests are handled professionally.
  • Respond to guest feedback and resolve concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Support departmental teams during busy periods and provide practical assistance when required.
  • Assist with team scheduling, daily briefings, training and colleague development.

Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a hotel, guesthouse or similar hospitality environment.
  • Broad operational experience across multiple hotel departments is highly desirable.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to support colleagues wherever needed.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A calm, confident and solutions-focused approach to operational challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of efficient hotel operations.
  • A genuine passion for delivering warm, personalised guest experiences.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
