Job summary

Blackrock Health Galway Clinic is seeking an Allied Health Administrator to join a busy team. The role supports allied health professionals, coordinates patient appointments, and handles billing and records to ensure smooth clinical operations.

The position is temporary (12 months), 37 hours per week, on site at Galway. Excellent organisational and customer service skills, plus basic radiology terminology knowledge, are desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar Allied Health administrative role is highly desirable.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication is essential.
• Organisational skills to manage high patient flow and appointments.
• Empathy and patience when interacting with patients.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, particularly radiology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with department availability.
• Confirm appointments and notify patients of changes or cancellations.
• Set up patient accounts, pre-registering and registering patients.
• Coordinate billing and processing of patient charges; issue receipts.
• Greet patients and visitors; provide assistance as needed.
• Check in patients for appointments and verify information.
• Address patient inquiries regarding times, procedures, and policies.
• Maintain accurate patient records and process referrals/pre-authorisations.
• Serve as liaison between patients, radiologists and radiographers.
• Direct calls to staff and notify clinical team of delays or concerns.
• Assist in maintaining reception area cleanliness and organization.
• Manage incoming mail related to the radiology department.
