Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Senior AI Engineer for a contract role in Dublin, Ireland. The role is hybrid and focuses on designing and delivering enterprise-scale AI solutions with hands-on engineering leadership.

You will work on modern AI technologies, including Agentic AI, LLM-based applications, RAG and production AI systems, while guiding architecture, patterns, and best practices across teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in AI Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic/multi-agent systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with AI evaluation, testing and observability.

Senior AI Engineer - Contract

Location: Hybrid

Contract: Contract Position

Experience: Minimum 5+ years in AI / Software Engineering or a closely related field

We are looking for an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join a highly technical team working on the design and delivery of enterprise-scale AI solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone with strong Experience across modern AI technologies, particularly Agentic AI, LLM-based applications, RAG, AI evaluation and production AI systems. You will also provide technical leadership, helping establish scalable architecture, reusable engineering patterns and best practices across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop production-grade Agentic AI and multi-agent systems.
• Build agent orchestration, tool execution, state management, workflow, retry and recovery patterns.
• Design scalable context, memory, retrieval and knowledge architectures.
• Develop reusable AI capabilities and integrations using technologies such as MCP, A2A, plugins and tool calling.
• Establish approaches for AI evaluation, testing, observability, LLMOps and production debugging.
• Work with RAG, GraphRAG, Knowledge Graphs and other retrieval technologies.
• Support the development of reliable and scalable production AI platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and establish reusable engineering standards across teams.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers and subject-matter experts.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years' Experience within AI Engineering, Software Engineering or a closely related technical field.
• Strong hands-on Experience with LLMs, Agentic AI and/or multi-agent systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, distributed systems, TDD and Domain-Driven Design.
• Experience with RAG, retrieval systems, context engineering and memory architecture.
• Knowledge of Knowledge Graphs, GraphRAG, RDF or LPG would be highly beneficial.
• Experience with AI evaluation, testing and observability.
• Understanding of LLMOps / AgentOps and deploying AI solutions into production.
• Knowledge of model routing, inference efficiency, latency, token usage and cost optimisation.
• Exposure to multimodal AI across text, image or voice is advantageous.
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and influence engineering teams.
