Job summary

Brightflag, part of Wolters Kluwer, is seeking a Product Software Engineer to join a fast‑growing AI‑native platform team across Ireland. You’ll own features end‑to‑end—from design to deployment—working with a Java tech stack (Spring, REST APIs) and leveraging Claude Code in daily workflows.

Expect collaboration across frontend, backend, QA, product and data science, with emphasis on quality, observability and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of professional Java development experience.
• Solid experience with the Spring Framework.
• Good understanding of web applications and REST APIs.
• Experience with SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum).
• Ability to design solutions independently for medium-sized features.
• Collaborative and growth mindset with ownership of scope.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from design to release with minimal rework.
• Use Claude Code and AI-assisted tools daily.
• Collaborate with Frontend, Backend, QA, Product and Data Science teams.
• Contribute to squad effectiveness through reviews and planning.
• Translate requirements into designs and ADRs with clear trade-offs.
• Write clean, well-tested code and improve reliability of features.
• Build observability (logs, metrics, alerts) into what you ship.
• Respond to incidents and perform post-incident follow-up.
• Participate in code reviews and share feedback.
• Implement REST APIs using Java Spring, MySQL, and related libraries.
• Model data and create dashboards/reports with Elastic Stack.
• Work within Agile processes and CI/CD improvements.
