Job summary

Barden is seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join the Finance Team in Cork. You will own the subcontractor process from valuations through to weekly payments and work closely with Commercial and Purchasing to connect project finances.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will lead month-end tasks, bank reconciliations, cashflow forecasting and payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy accounts role with strong month-end exposure
• Hands-on payroll, VAT or RCT processing experience
• Knowledge of construction industry financial processes is advantageous
• Ability to work with commercial teams and deliver accurate reconciliations
• Comfortable with control over subcontractor processes and payments

Responsibilities

• Own the subcontractor process from valuations through to weekly payments
• Lead bank reconciliations and maintain the group cash position
• Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts and the debtors report
• Reconcile the trial balance at month end
• Prepare VAT and RCT returns
• Run weekly and monthly payroll including journals and reconciliations
• Review supplier payments and creditors reconciliations

Barden is delighted to be working with one of our clients in the construction sector, a well-established business based in Cork, as they look to appoint a Senior Accounts Assistant to their Finance team. The company has a strong pipeline of work across Ireland and is committed to steady, sustainable growth.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own the subcontractor process from start to finish and play a central part in month end. You will work closely with the Commercial and Purchasing teams, so you will see how the finances and the projects connect.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Own the subcontractor process, from valuations through to weekly payments.
• Lead the bank reconciliations and keep the group cash position up to date.
• Prepare the weekly cashflow forecast and the debtors report.
• Reconcile the trial balance at month end.
• Prepare the VAT and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) returns.
• Run the weekly and monthly payroll, including the journals and reconciliations.
• Review supplier payment runs and the creditors reconciliations.

ABOUT THE PERSON

• Strong experience in a busy accounts role
• A good working knowledge of month end and reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with payroll, VAT, or RCT.
• Construction or subcontractor experience would be a real advantage.
• Accurate, organised, and comfortable working with commercial teams.
