Job summary

Waruna Shipping Group seeks an experienced Workshop Assistant Manager to lead and oversee workshop operations across machining, mechanical engine, mechanical governor, welding, hydraulic, and turbocharger sub-departments.

You will ensure efficient, safe, and quality-oriented daily work, plan activities to meet targets, and drive improvements in productivity and resource use. Willing to be placed in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

Qualifications

• Minimum D4/S1 degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a similar workshop/technical role, preferably in shipping, shipyard, marine, or related industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of machining, mechanical engine, mechanical governor, welding, hydraulic, and turbocharger processes.
• Proven experience managing multiple technical workshop functions and coordinating technical teams.
• Strong leadership, people management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of workshop planning, production processes, equipment utilization, and operational performance.
• Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations, quality control standards, and workshop procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Willing to be placed in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Assistant Manager to lead and oversee workshop operations across multiple technical sub-departments. Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with established quality standards.

Plan, coordinate, and monitor workshop activities to ensure production targets, schedules, and operational requirements are achieved.

Develop and implement improvement initiatives to optimize workshop productivity, resource utilization, work processes, and overall performance.

Monitor the condition, availability, and utilization of workshop equipment, tools, and resources to support smooth operations.

Coordinate with QC Inspectors to ensure quality standards are consistently maintained and identify opportunities for quality improvement.

Identify operational issues, investigate root causes, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, company procedures, and workplace safety standards across workshop activities.

Monitor team performance and provide direction, coaching, and guidance to workshop personnel to improve technical capabilities and productivity.

Foster a positive, disciplined, and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Coordinate with other departments to support vessel repair, maintenance, production, and other shipyard-related requirements.

Prepare and provide operational updates, performance reports, and recommendations to management.

Perform other workshop-related projects and assignments as directed by management.
