Job summary

PT. Meratus Line & Group is seeking a Vessel Inspector (Master) for a shore-based role at our Surabaya headquarters. You will supervise vessel inspections, ensure findings are closed, and coordinate with the Ship Manager to maintain compliance with all rules and regulations.

The role requires prior Chief Officer and Master experience, a valid CoC Class 1, and a willingness to work ashore at Surabaya. Container ship exposure is a plus, with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in vessel inspection roles.
• Experience as Chief Officer and Master onboard vessels.
• Willing to be stationed at Surabaya Head Office.
• Container ship experience preferred.
• Must be able to work in a shore-based role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vessel inspections twice per year per plan.
• Provide inspection reports and follow-up on findings.
• Coordinate with Ship Manager/Superintendent to close findings on time.
• Review and update inspection checklists with QSHE team.
• Monitor SOPs and ensure daily compliance.

Job description

Vessel Inspector (Master) - Shore Position

Responsible for ensuring that ship inspections are carried out regularly and that findings from both internal and external audits are properly closed out, in order to ensure that the vessels comply with all applicable rules, regulations, and requirements.

Key responsibilities

Execute vessel inspections based on the plan set by the Vessel Inspection & QSHE Team, and ensure that every vessel undergoes a minimum of two inspections per year in compliance with relevant rules and regulations

Provide inspection reports for corrective action and follow-up on findings identified during the inspections

Work closely with the Ship Manager / Superintendent to ensure that all findings are addressed and closed within the set target timeline

Collaborate with the Vessel Inspection & QSHE Team to periodically review and update the inspection checklists to ensure continual improvement

Monitor, follow up, and revise parts of the SOP as needed, and ensure that the procedures are consistently followed in daily operation

Requirements

Experienced as Chief Officer and Master onboard vessels

Experienced in the same role for at least 2 year

Holding a Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 1

Preferably candidate from container ship experience

Possess strong motivation to work in a shore-based position

Willing to be placed at the Head Office, Surabaya

The dry bulk logistics, including transhipment operations of offshore floating crane together with tug and barge owning-and-operating business is run by an affiliated company, Meratus Advance Maritim (MDM).

MDM operates several sets of powerful and modern tugs and jumbo, 394' feet barges and 18,000 mtpd guarantee loading rate of offshore floating crane

Terminal operators and stevedores.

Operations in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta and Tanjung Perak Surabaya are carried out by affiliated companies.

Offshore supply vessels.

Partnership with Indonesia offshore shipping service provider, Wintermar, in the provision of four Platform Supply Vessels: WM. Makassar, WM. Sulawesi , WM. Natuna and WM. Pacific.
