Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking a Head of Mining Operations for a remote FIFO PNG site. You will direct all underground mining activities, drive safe, efficient production, and lead multidisciplinary teams in challenging conditions.

Candidates should have 10+ years underground mining experience, 5+ years in senior leadership, and a valid PNG Mine Manager CoC or eligibility. English fluency and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field required.
• Minimum 10 years underground mining experience with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
• CoC in PNG or immediate eligibility to obtain one; fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for underground mining operations and production.
• Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans aligned with targets.
• Champion safety leadership and ensure compliance with Mine Safety Management System.
• Manage departmental budgets, costs, and capital expenditure planning.
• Oversee contractor performance and safety requirements.
• Mentor Mining Supervisors, Engineers, and leaders for succession planning.
• Monitor production performance and drive continuous improvements.
• Collaborate across technical services, geology, processing, and exec teams.
