Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking a Head of Mining Operations for a Papua New Guinea remote FIFO operation. You will direct all underground mining activities, ensure safety, optimize production, and manage senior teams in a challenging environment.

The role requires a Mining Engineering degree, PNG CoC or eligible, 10+ years in underground mining and 5+ in leadership, and strong planning and safety systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years underground mining experience with 5+ years in senior leadership.
• PNG Metalliferous Mine Manager's CoC or eligible to obtain it.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead underground mining operations, including development, production, ground support, ventilation, and mine services.
• Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans aligned with targets.
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation and Mine Safety Management System.
• Manage departmental budgets, costs, and capex planning.
• Oversee contractor performance and safety requirements.
• Mentor Mining Superintendents, Shift Bosses, Supervisors, and engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement for productivity and reliability.
• Collaborate across mine operations, technical services, maintenance, processing and support.
