Job summary

Unknown is seeking a Head of Mining Operations to lead underground mining activities in a remote FIFO PNG environment. You will drive development, production planning, contractor management, and safety culture while aligning with statutory requirements and international standards.

The role requires strong leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, deep expertise in narrow-vein methods, and a proven track record in high‑hazard mining operations. English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years' underground mining experience with 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Fluent English in written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for underground mining operations and safe execution of mine development and production.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, Geology, and processing teams to align plans with targets.
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation, safety standards, and risk management.
• Manage budgets, costs, and capital expenditure while driving cost optimization.
• Lead and develop senior mining personnel and oversee contractor performance.
• Monitor performance, identify risks, and implement continuous improvement.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to achieve site performance objectives.
