Job summary

The Grab is seeking a Transportation Operation Assistant Manager in Jakarta to lead the middle-mile operations for GrabMart Indonesia. You will oversee linehaul movements, hub transfers, route planning, and carrier management to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery across suppliers, warehouses, and stores.

You will report to the Manager and be based onsite with regular travel to sites and partner facilities. A strong background in transport operations and vendor performance is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in middle-mile, transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Experience managing end-to-end transport execution and linehaul/inter-hub transfers.
• Experience managing 3PLs and transport vendors with performance reviews.
• Experience with transport management systems, fleet/dispatch tools, GPS, and dashboards.
• Strong stakeholder management across warehouses, carriers, and regional teams.
• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English; bachelor's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end middle-mile movements including linehaul and transfers.
• Oversee daily transport execution: planning, dispatch, capacity, and delivery tracking.
• Manage third-party logistics partners to meet service and cost targets.
• Define metrics: on-time departures, fill rate, costs, and shipment accuracy.
• Develop SOPs and escalation procedures to improve visibility and product quality.

Get to Know the Role

You will lead middle-mile transportation operations across GrabMart Indonesia, ensuring reliable, efficient, and cost-effective movement of inventory between suppliers, warehouses, dark stores. Your primary goal is to maintain high service levels, fleet and carrier productivity, shipment visibility, and safe execution while improving network performance. This role is critical for scaling GrabMart in Indonesia.

You will report to the Manager. You will based onsite. You may be require regular travel to operating sites, hubs, and partner facilities.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will manage and improve end-to-end middle-mile movements, including linehaul, inter-hub transfers, replenishment routes, cross-docking, and scheduled store deliveries.
• You will manage daily transport execution: route planning, dispatch, vehicle and capacity allocation, cut-off adherence, delivery tracking, exception management, and proof-of-delivery reconciliation.
• You will manage third-party logistics partners, transport vendors, and drivers against agreed service, cost, safety, and compliance standards; lead performance reviews and corrective actions.
• You will define and monitor key operational metrics such as on-time departure and arrival, fill rate, utilization, cost per trip, shipment accuracy, damages, cancellations, and failed deliveries, using root-cause analysis to drive improvements.
• You will build operating standards, SOPs, control-tower routines, and escalation mechanisms that improve shipment visibility and protect product quality across the network.
• You will partner closely with warehouse, inventory, commercial, finance teams to align demand, capacity, schedules, and peak plans.
• You will lead incident and contingency management for delays, capacity shortfalls, weather or road disruptions, damages, and other operational risks, ensuring communication and recovery plans.
• You will coach operations teams and vendor supervisors, promote a safety culture, and implement-improvement projects across middle-mile operations.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• 5+ years of experience in middle-mile, transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations within e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or a related sector.
• Proven expertise managing end-to-end transport execution, including linehaul or inter-hub transfers, route planning, dispatch, carrier management, and delivery exceptions.
• Demonstrated experience managing 3PLs or transport vendors, operational requirements, and driving partner performance through structured reviews and action plans.
• Experience with transport management systems (TMS), fleet or dispatch tools, GPS tracking, warehouse systems, and data dashboards.
• Strong stakeholder-management, with the ability to coordinate across warehouses, stores, carriers, and regional teams.
• Improve cost analysis logistics and optimization routing method.
• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
