Job summary

British School Jakarta seeks a Media Arts Technician to provide hands-on technical support for the Film & Media Arts department. You will set up, operate, and maintain cameras, lighting, sound and editing equipment, and assist staff and students in safe, effective use of media tools.

You will collaborate with teachers and Arts staff to ensure resources meet educational standards, manage storage and inventory, and contribute to a safe, well-equipped learning environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s Degree or Senior High School qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in media, film, audiovisual production or a related technical environment.
• Practical experience with cameras, lighting, sound and video editing equipment.
• Good technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Good organisational and equipment management skills.
• Good written and verbal communication in English and strong interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external parties.
• Good understanding of health and safety when working with technical equipment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working in a school or educational environment.
• Experience in professional media production and editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Media Arts Technician provides hands‑on technical support to the Film & Media Arts department, ensuring that media equipment, studios and technical resources are safe, functional and ready to support teaching, learning, productions, assessments and school events.

The role is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance and organisation of Media Arts equipment and resources, including cameras, lighting, sound and editing equipment. The role also provides practical technical support, guidance and basic training to students and staff in the safe and effective use of media equipment and software.

Working closely with Media Arts teachers and relevant Arts staff, the Media Arts Technician helps ensure that technical requirements are effectively supported and that equipment, studios and digital resources are maintained to an appropriate professional and educational standard.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Associate’s Degree or Senior High School qualification or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in media, film, audiovisual production or a related technical environment.

Practical experience with cameras, lighting, sound and video editing equipment.

Good technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

Good organisational and equipment management skills.

Good written and verbal communication in English and strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively liaise with internal and external parties.

Experience managing media files, digital storage and equipment inventory.

Experience with equipment maintenance, minor repairs or technical support.
