Job summary

British School Jakarta seeks a Media Arts Technician to provide hands-on technical support for the Film & Media Arts department. You will set up, operate, and maintain cameras, lighting, sound and editing equipment, and assist staff and students in safe, effective use of media tools.

You will collaborate with teachers and Arts staff to ensure resources meet educational standards, manage storage and inventory, and contribute to a safe, well-equipped learning environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s Degree or Senior High School qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in media, film, audiovisual production or a related technical environment.
• Practical experience with cameras, lighting, sound and video editing equipment.
• Good technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Good organisational and equipment management skills.
• Good written and verbal communication in English and strong interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external parties.
• Good understanding of health and safety when working with technical equipment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working in a school or educational environment.
• Experience in professional media production and editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, maintain and organise Media Arts equipment and resources.
• Provide practical technical support, guidance and basic training to students and staff.
• Work closely with Media Arts teachers and staff to ensure equipment and resources meet educational standards.
• Maintain safe and ready-to-use studios and digital resources.
• Manage media files, storage and equipment inventory; perform minor repairs as needed.
