Job summary

hosting.com in Bali is seeking a keen technical support specialist to help clients use our hosting service. You will respond to tickets and live chat, troubleshoot issues, and guide customers through our stack (cPanel, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) with a user-friendly approach.

You should be comfortable with WordPress from a user perspective, manage DNS and nameservers, and diagnose server performance problems.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux server access via SSH and basic server management.
• Familiarity with PHP, MySQL, Apache, and WordPress from an admin/user perspective.
• Experience with DNS management and domain name servers.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot server performance issues (CPU, iowait, swap).

Responsibilities

• Assist clients and prospective clients with hosting service usage via support tickets and live chat.
• Handle technical queries related to the hosting stack (cPanel, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).

About the Role

What You’ll Do

In this role, you should be a keen problemsolver and have a good level of written and spoken English. The role primarily involves helping clients and prospective clients use our hosting service, answering technical queries mainly through support tickets and livechat.

We use a standard hosting stack comprising cPanel, Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP so experience with these technologies is crucial. The majority of the sites we host will run a CMS like WordPress, so experience from a user or management perspective of WordPress is also desirable.

What You’ll Bring

• Accessing a Linux server with SSH
• Minimal D3/S1
• 1year experience
• Using common command line tools, like grep, vi/nano,chmod/chown.htaccessfiles, rewrite rules, IP blocking
• Basic PHP scripting and syntax, php.ini configuration variables
• MySQL connection strings, basic SQL syntax, and common error messages
• Identifyingand diagnosing server performance problems (CPU,iowait, swap)
• Migrating websites manually between servers
• Managing DNS and nameservers.
