Job summary

PT Istana Group Indonesia is seeking a Technical Lead to break down requirements, design systems, and lead engineering teams through complex challenges.

You will oversee architecture, API flows, ERDs, use cases, and diagrams; guide microservices, databases, and performance; mentor engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of robust fintech-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer with senior/tech lead exposure.
• Strong backend, architecture, and system design capabilities.
• Deep knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience in performance analysis and production troubleshooting.
• Proficient in MySQL and PostgreSQL; indexing and query optimization.
• Good understanding of Kubernetes and containerized apps.
• Able to create ERD, use case, and sequence diagrams.
• Strong technical leadership, task breakdown, mentoring, and decision-making.
• Fintech, payment, or financial systems experience is a plus.
• Node.js/TypeScript experience is a plus.

Job description

Technical Lead position, responsible for breaking down technical requirements, performing system design, and leading engineering teams through complex technical challenges.

Key responsibilities

Break down technical requirements into clear and actionable engineering tasks, including scope, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and technical considerations.

Perform technical analysis and system design before development, including architecture, API flow, ERD, use case, and sequence diagrams.

Design and review solutions involving microservices, databases, caching, asynchronous processing, transactions, concurrency, and data consistency.

Perform task estimation, technical prioritization, and dependency management with the Engineering Manager.

Assign and distribute technical tasks based on complexity, priority, and engineer capability.

Conduct code reviews and technical reviews to ensure implementation follows the agreed design and engineering standards.

Act as the escalation point for complex technical problems, performance issues, and production incidents.

Perform performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization across applications and databases.

Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and problem-solving support to engineers.

Collaborate with Engineering Manager, QA, DevOps, and Product teams to ensure smooth planning and delivery.

About you

Minimum 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer, with experience as a Senior Engineer or Tech Lead.

Strong understanding of backend engineering, system architecture, and system design.

Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems, including scalability, reliability, idempotency, concurrency, and fault tolerance.

Experience in application performance analysis and production troubleshooting.

Strong knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL, database design, transactions, indexing, and query optimization.

Good understanding of Kubernetes and containerized applications.

Able to create and understand ERD, Use Case, and Sequence Diagrams.

Strong technical leadership, task breakdown, mentoring, and decision-making skills.

Experience in fintech, payment, or financial systems is a plus.

Experience with Node.js/TypeScript is a plus.
