Job summary

Aspen Medical Depok Hospital is seeking a Surgery Unit Supervisor to provide day-to-day operational leadership for perioperative services. The role ensures safe, efficient theatre operations, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and upholds clinical governance and infection prevention standards.

Working with the Medical Services Manager, you will drive continuous service improvement, mentor staff, and sustain a high-performing perioperative environment in a busy hospital setting in Depok,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Ners) or relevant healthcare discipline.
  • Eligible to obtain a SIP for Aspen Medical Depok Hospital.
  • Valid and active BCLS and ACLS certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an Operating Theatre, Perioperative Services, or equivalent acute care environment.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams within a surgical or hospital environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Unit to ensure safe, efficient, and effective perioperative service delivery.
  • Coordinate operating theatre activities, surgical schedules, and resource utilisation to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Monitor theatre capacity, operational readiness, and workflow, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure operating theatres, equipment, surgical instruments, and essential supplies are operationally ready for scheduled and emergency procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to Surgery Unit staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and patient-centered working environment.
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate daily staff allocation and shift coverage to ensure safe and efficient Surgery Unit operations.
  • Promote compliance with hospital policies, perioperative protocols, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety initiatives, including surgical safety practices and infection prevention standards.
  • Support quality improvement activities, clinical audits, accreditation initiatives, and incident investigations.
  • Monitor and promote compliance with aseptic techniques, sterile practices, and safe handling of surgical equipment and instruments.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing teams, medical support services, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders to facilitate coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal departments to support surgical scheduling and continuity of care.
  • Escalate operational or clinical concerns to the Medical Services Manager in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain operational reports, departmental documentation, and relevant records.
  • Monitor Surgery Unit performance indicators and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities and departmental initiatives as required.

Job description

The Surgery Unit Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership of the Surgery Unit, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of perioperative services. The role oversees operating theatre operations, coordinates multidisciplinary surgical teams, and promotes compliance with clinical governance, infection prevention, and patient safety standards. Working closely with the Medical Services Manager, the Surgery Unit Supervisor supports continuous service improvement while fostering a collaborative and high-performing perioperative environment.

  • Operating theatre activities are effectively coordinated to optimize theatre utilization, minimize delays, and support positive patient outcome.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
A. Operational Leadership
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Unit to ensure safe, efficient, and effective perioperative service delivery
  • Coordinate operating theatre activities, surgical schedules, and resource utilisation to optimise operational efficiency.

Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Ners) or relevant healthcare discipline
  • Eligible to obtain a Surat Izin Praktik (SIP) for Aspen Medical Depok Hospital.
  • Valid and active BCLS and ACLS certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an Operating Theatre, Perioperative Services, or equivalent actue care environment
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams within a surgical or hospital environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is desirable
