Job summary

Beyondsoft Singapore is seeking a Senior Test Engineer (Linux) to contribute hands-on testing across hardware, firmware, and networking, and to guide a small testing team within Agile Scrum. You will design and execute manual test cases for instrument control software and module-based applications, maintain test environments, and work with developers to resolve defects.

• Minimum 5 years of software testing with strong manual testing expertise.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing manual test cases for web/desktop/enterprise apps.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail for defect tracking/test management.
• Experience testing Windows and/or Linux GUI applications.
• Understanding of SDLC/STLC and QA best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong collaboration in Agile Scrum teams.

• Investigate, reproduce, and collaborate with developers to resolve defects.
• Set up and maintain test environments and data for validation.
• Report, track, and manage defects using issue management tools and communicate risks clearly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on quality objectives and release readiness.
• Participate in requirement reviews and provide feedback to improve testability.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer (Linux) with some hands on experience in Linux and product testing across hardware, firmware, and networking, as well as experience leading a team and overseeing testing activities.

Responsibilities

• Work within Agile Scrum teams to design, execute, and validate manual test cases for instrument control software, service software, and module-based applications for DNA sequencing and genotyping devices.
• Develop, review, and execute manual test cases covering functional, integration, regression, system, user acceptance (UAT), and performance validation.
• Define and maintain test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases to ensure product quality and compliance with requirements.
• Perform thorough manual testing of software applications and identify defects, inconsistencies, and usability issues.
• Investigate, reproduce, and work closely with developers to resolve defects.
• Set up and maintain test environments and test data for effective validation.
• Report, track, and manage defects using issue management tools, ensuring clear communication of risks and impacts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on quality objectives and release readiness.
• Participate in requirement reviews and provide feedback to improve testability and product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing with strong expertise in manual testing.
• Hands-on experience in designing and executing manual test cases for web, desktop, or enterprise applications.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail.
• Experience testing Windows and/or Linux-based GUI applications.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, system, user acceptance (UAT), and exploratory testing.
• Experience in complex system testing, such as medical devices, instrumentation software, or other regulated industries, is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and quality assurance best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in Agile Scrum teams.
