Markov Architecture in Bali is seeking a Senior Interior Architect to translate approved interior concepts into complete, construction-ready interior packages. The role collaborates with the Head of Architecture and other disciplines across luxury villas, apartments and hotels.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture, 7+ years of experience, and fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Bali-based, full-time with site visits to project locations.

PT Bali Cahaya Makmur (BCM), trading as Markov Architecture, is establishing a multidisciplinary Architecture and Engineering Department to deliver coordinated design and construction documentation for luxury villas, apartments, resorts, hotels and mixed-use developments.
We are recruiting one Senior Interior Architect to translate approved interior concepts into complete, coordinated and construction-ready interior packages. The position reports to the Head of Architecture and works closely with the Senior Project Architect, Senior Interior Designer, Structural Engineer, MEP Engineers, Architectural Drafter, Senior Architectural 3D Visualizer, procurement team and construction teams.
Develop and refine interior architectural concepts in accordance with the approved building design and creative interior direction.
Develop detailed internal space planning, circulation, room relationships and functional layouts.
Develop internal partitions, openings, doors, screens, fixed elements, bathrooms, kitchens, wet areas, service spaces, storage and back-of-house areas.
Coordinate interior planning with the building structure, envelope, primary circulation and operational requirements.
Maintain refined proportions, visual balance, spatial discipline and consistency throughout the project.
Independently prepare complete construction-ready interior drawing packages.
Prepare setting-out drawings, partition plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans, internal elevations, sections and construction details.
Prepare tile and stone setting-out drawings showing alignment, joints, falls, cuts, junctions and transitions.
Prepare detailed drawings for kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, shelving, reception counters and other fixed joinery.
Prepare door, finish, sanitaryware, hardware and joinery schedules.
Prepare room data sheets, interior specifications, drawing notes and technical performance requirements where required.
Maintain coordinated references, revisions and approved changes throughout the drawing package.
Develop technical material and finish selections in coordination with the creative direction established by the Senior Interior Designer.
Resolve edges, junctions, transitions, shadow gaps, trims, interfaces and termination details.
Confirm that materials and details are suitable for Bali’s humidity, moisture, corrosion, mould, termite, cleaning and maintenance conditions.
Coordinate fire-rated elements, accessibility, acoustic performance, slip resistance and other applicable technical requirements.
Coordinate waterproofing, drainage falls, thresholds, penetrations and material transitions in wet areas.
Ensure that interior solutions are buildable, durable, maintainable and suitable for the project’s operational requirements.
Coordinate interior layouts and details with the Senior Project Architect, Structural Engineer and MEP Engineers.
Coordinate loose furniture, decorative items, material intent and FF&E requirements with the Senior Interior Designer.
Coordinate decorative-lighting intent with the Senior Interior Designer and technical lighting requirements with the Electrical Engineer.
Coordinate air-conditioning grilles, diffusers, sprinklers, detectors, speakers, access panels and other ceiling services.
Coordinate plumbing fixtures, sanitaryware, floor wastes, drainage, waterproofing and service access.
Identify and resolve design conflicts while maintaining fabrication tolerances, installation clearances and maintenance access.
Provide technical information and clarification during estimating, tendering and procurement.
Coordinate with joinery manufacturers, specialist suppliers, fabricators and subcontractors.
Review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, material submissions, samples and mock-ups.
Verify site measurements and existing conditions before specialist fabrication begins.
Respond to RFIs, contractor queries and proposed material substitutions.
Confirm that procurement and fabrication proposals comply with the approved design and technical documentation.
Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, samples and quality standards.
Identify weak detailing, construction discrepancies, coordination failures and noncompliant work.
Resolve technical interior issues with the relevant architects, engineers, suppliers and construction teams.
Review value-engineering proposals without allowing the approved design quality or required performance to be weakened.
Prepare and review snagging lists and verify completed rectification work.
Review interior as-built information for accuracy.
The Senior Project Architect controls the overall building architecture, envelope, primary circulation and multidisciplinary architectural coordination.
The Senior Interior Architect controls the technical design, space planning, fixed elements, detailing and construction documentation of the internal environment.
The Senior Interior Designer controls the creative interior direction, atmosphere, material palette, loose furniture, decorative lighting and styling.
The Senior Architectural 3D Visualizer produces presentation-quality visualisations based on the approved design.
Specialist engineers remain responsible for their calculations, technical system designs and system performance.
Changes affecting the building architecture must be coordinated with the Senior Project Architect. Changes affecting the approved creative interior direction must be coordinated with the Senior Interior Designer.
Unresolved design or coordination decisions must be referred to the Head of Architecture.
Minimum 7 years of professional interior architecture or technically focused interior-design experience.
At least 3 years of independent responsibility for high-quality residential, hospitality or mixed-use projects.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Architecture, Architecture or another directly relevant discipline.
Relevant higher education completed outside Indonesia or substantial and verifiable professional experience working overseas.
Candidates whose education and professional experience are both exclusively within Indonesia do not meet the required profile.
Short courses, remote overseas coordination, work for foreign clients or work on internationally branded Indonesian projects do not by themselves satisfy the international-background requirement.
Strong written and spoken English and fluent Bahasa Indonesia.
Strong understanding of contemporary European and international interior-design language, supported by completed luxury residential, hospitality or comparable projects.
Strong technical knowledge of interior construction, materials, finishes, wet areas, waterproofing, joinery and specialist fabrication.
Ability to independently produce complete construction-ready interior drawing packages.
Strong AutoCAD capability for technical documentation.
Strong SketchUp capability for spatial and technical design development.
Ability to coordinate interiors with architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and fire-protection requirements.
Ability to review shop drawings, submissions, samples, mock-ups and completed site work and identify weak detailing, coordination failures and noncompliant work.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, fabrication tolerances, installation clearances and maintenance access.
A strong portfolio containing completed projects and technical documentation personally produced or managed by the candidate.
Ability to provide original or appropriately redacted plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules and construction drawings.
Verifiable professional references and a clear explanation of the candidate’s exact responsibility for every submitted project and work sample.
Willingness to work full-time between the Markov Architecture office and project sites in Bali.
Revit or other BIM software.
Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator.
Experience working directly for an international architecture or interior-design practice.
Experience with luxury hospitality operators or internationally managed developments.
Experience coordinating specialist lighting, acoustics, commercial kitchens, spas or other hospitality facilities.
Professional architectural or interior‑design registration where relevant.
Experience taking projects from concept development through construction and final handover.
THR in accordance with Indonesian regulations.
12 days of paid annual leave, with entitlement commencing after 12 months of continuous employment.
We are looking for a technically strong Interior Architect who can protect an approved design language from design development through documentation, procurement and construction. Candidates whose experience is limited to mood boards, decorative selections, basic layouts or attractive renders without corresponding technical documentation and completed‑project evidence will not be considered.
