Job description

The Company

Our client creates sustainable fashion that honours and empowers the diverse female form. They craft timeless designs with intention and care, using eco-friendly materials and ethical production practices. Their philosophy, "Buy Less, Choose Well, Make it Last," underpins their slow fashion approach.

Our client is a consciously crafted clothing brand with roots in Torquay, Australia, and a heart in Bali, where each piece is ethically made. Rooted in sustainability, ethical production, and mindful living, they create timeless, versatile clothing designed for movement and everyday wear. Their collections embrace natural fibres, earthy tones, and effortless silhouettes that honour both the wearer and the world around them.

At our client, their foundation is Connection—to their community, to the Earth, and to the self. They are a place where women feel inspired, seen, and understood, and can reconnect with nature and their own right to be soft and live fully. Every decision they make is rooted in deep intention.

The Role

The Garment Technician & Pattern Maker is a key role within our client's Design team. Your mission is to own the product development process end to end — from initial sketch through to final, production-ready sample — bringing complete mastery of garment construction, pattern making, and sample development management. Working closely with the Design & Development Lead and the wider Design team, you will be the technical backbone of the development team — leading fitting sessions, pattern making and grading, technical documentation, and manufacturer coordination across all stages. You will play a key role in improving fit consistency, product quality, and communication with manufacturers. This role is ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented, technically minded, and passionate about garment construction, fit, and product development within a purpose-driven and sustainable brand.

  • Location: Canggu, Bali
  • Employment Type: Full-time / On-site
  • Reports to: Head of Design
  • Creative Reporting Line: Co-Founders (Final creative sign-off)
Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Development & Garment Construction
    • Own sample development independently, start to end, from sketch to final sample.
    • Create and/or oversee pattern making with a full understanding of garment construction.
    • Critically analyse fit comments and translate feedback into clear, technical action points.
    • Diagnose construction or fit issues and propose durable technical solutions, not just quick fixes.
    • Lead fitting sessions: taking measurements, technical notes, and deciding on the adjustments needed.
    • Bring strong technical knowledge of woven, jersey and activewear fabrics.
    • Bring strong technical knowledge of knitwear (gauge, stitch structure, finishing, shrinkage, shaping).
    • Bring technical knowledge of intimates/lingerie construction (elastic engineering, cups, support structures).
    • Carry out or coordinate fabric testing (shrinkage, stretch & recovery, colorfastness, pilling) to validate performance before bulk production.
  • Pattern Making & Grading
    • Create digital patterns from sketch or brief with a complete understanding of drape, ease, and movement.
    • Apply a critical, analytical eye to grading, identifying areas for continuous improvement across the size range.
    • Adjust key points of measurement based on fit feedback and production considerations.
  • Technical Documentation & Accuracy
    • Create, update, and maintain techpacks and spec sheets with accuracy and consistency.
    • Ensure all documentation (fitting notes, revisions, BOM) is complete, organised, and up to date.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively with manufacturers on technical comments, corrections, and updates.
  • Sample Development & Production Coordination
    • Track sample development across all stages, ensuring timelines and revisions are followed closely.
    • Coordinate with manufacturers with a real understanding of production constraints (MOQ, technical feasibility, construction complexity).
    • Estimate fabric consumption and support costing discussions with manufacturers.
    • Prepare samples for fittings, meetings, and production handover.
  • Leadership & Team Support
    • Mentor and support junior team members on technical development and pattern making.
    • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously across different product categories.
    • Act as a technical reference point for the wider design and development team.
  • Tracking & Reporting
    • Document development progress meticulously (fitting photos, revision notes, sample history).
    • Keep development trackers accurate and up to date at every stage.
  • You are highly organised, technically minded, and passionate about the details that make a garment fit and function beautifully.
  • Detail-Oriented: You have a strong eye for precision and consistency, especially regarding fit, measurements, and garment construction.
  • Technically Skilled: You have complete mastery of garment construction and pattern making, and understand how different fabrics behave across categories, including knitwear.
  • Analytical: You take a critical, questioning approach to fit comments and grading, always looking for ways to improve accuracy and consistency across the size range.
  • Process-Driven: You enjoy organising information, following development stages closely, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Collaborative: You communicate clearly with both design teams and manufacturers, and enjoy working in a growing and supportive environment.
  • Quality-Focused: You care deeply about product quality, fit consistency, and creating garments that are made to last.
  • Sustainability-Driven: You are aligned with our client's slow-fashion philosophy and understand the importance of thoughtful product development.
Requirements

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable communicating technical comments and revisions directly with manufacturers.
  • Deep understanding of garment costing and fabric consumption.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior technical staff.
  • English & Bahasa Indonesia proficiency.
