Job summary

Traveloka is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a fully remote, globally distributed engineering team. You will design, build, and maintain scalable microservices powering fintech platforms, with a focus on reliable RESTful APIs, data models, and robust security.

You will collaborate with frontend, product managers, and other stakeholders, review code, optimize databases, and help shape architectural decisions while staying current with backend technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages and frameworks (Java, Python, Go, Node.js; Spring Boot, Django, Flask).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices in backend stack.
• Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs for frontends and third parties.
• Collaborate with frontend, product managers, and stakeholders on API specs.
• Apply coding standards, testing, security, and performance optimizations.
• Optimize relational and NoSQL databases and data models.
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across environments.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technology selection.
• Stay updated with backend trends and advocate for improvements.
