Employment Hero is seeking a Senior Software/Backend Engineer to build and scale the systems behind our Employment Operating System, solving complex engineering challenges for millions of users.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software development
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Ruby, Python, Java, PHP or JS/TS)
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, RESTful APIs, databases and testing
• Strong product mindset and technical judgement
• Ability to influence technical decisions and raise standards
• AI-first mindset and willingness to use AI tools
• Strong English communication and remote-working collaboration

Responsibilities

• Own complex problems end-to-end from understanding user needs to deployment
• Build and scale backend services and integrations
• Drive technical decisions balancing performance and maintainability
• Leverage AI coding agents to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality
• Mentor Engineers and improve engineering practices
• Collaborate across Product and Engineering to deliver better outcomes
