Job summary

Shope is seeking an senior backend architect in Indonesia to lead end-to-end architecture for Marketplace Order Operations, including returns, settlements, and seller tools. You will drive modularization and unify core components, guiding roadmaps across cross-functional teams to deliver high-availability services at scale.

You will influence technology choices (Go, Java, C++), mentor engineers, and optimize performance in multi-region deployments, while aligning with business goals and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• 7+ years backend development experience in large-scale, business-critical systems with at least 3 years in architecture leadership roles
• Strong hands-on expertise in Golang, Java, C++, with distributed systems, microservice orchestration, and event-driven architecture knowledge
• Proven track record building complex systems from 0 to 1 including seller platforms, campaigns, rule-based logic, and governance tools
• Familiar with MySQL, Redis, Kafka, Kubernetes, gRPC, Protocol Buffers and performance tuning in high-concurrency environments
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to own critical modules and drive cross-team architectural initiatives
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to guide diverse, cross-regional teams; experience in ecommerce or high-throughput systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture design and implementation of critical Marketplace Order Operations systems, including return/refund flows and settlement pipelines
• Drive platform-level modularization and codebase unification across business lines
• Own strategic technical roadmaps and guide teams through large-scale projects from inception to delivery
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, SRE, and Data teams to deliver reliable, high-availability services in multi-region deployments
• Champion performance optimization through concurrency handling, caching, async processing, and DB tuning
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance development efficiency, resilience, and cost-effectiveness
