World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia seeks a Consultant Senior AI Engineer to lead multilingual translation and AI-driven document generation for the NbS Tool. You will evaluate models, design AI pipelines, and collaborate with Product and Backend Engineers to deliver production-ready components.

The role emphasizes source-grounded translation, robust evaluation, and alignment with WRI’s climate and nature-based solutions goals. Hybrid work with in-office days and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years of AI/ML, NLP, or software engineering experience with hands-on AI-enabled applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with LLMs, Generative AI, and RAG-based applications.
• Experience designing, evaluating, and optimizing AI pipelines including retrieval, embeddings, reranking, prompt engineering, and source-grounding techniques.
• Experience integrating AI services into backend systems or production-oriented web applications via APIs.
• Understanding multilingual NLP or machine translation and related terminology challenges.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; able to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to communicate technical findings in English and travel when required.
• Legally able to work in Indonesia.

Responsabilités

• Lead the AI design and development of multilingual translation and content generation within the NbS Tool.
• Evaluate AI models (e.g., SeaLLM, SEA-LION) and recommend approaches based on quality and cost.
• Develop multilingual translation with focus on Indonesian and one additional Southeast Asian language using a RAG-based approach.
• Improve RAG retrieval quality, source grounding, and citation traceability.
• Establish automated evaluation metrics and human assessments for translation and content quality.
• Provide AI components and guidance for integration with the NbS Tool workflow with Backend Engineers.
• Support testing, production readiness, and cost considerations for AI components.
• Prepare technical documentation covering AI architecture and evaluation results.
