Job summary

PT LATICRETE INDONESIA ABADI is seeking a Research & Development professional to develop, test, and troubleshoot mortar and flooring products, including tile adhesives, mortars, grouts, epoxy grout, waterproofing, and coatings.

You will design formulations, run trials, analyze results, document data, and collaborate with Production, QC, Technical, Purchasing and Marketing teams to bring new or improved products to market. Willingness to travel and strong Excel skills required.

Qualifications

• Minimum D3/S1 education, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience in R&D, formulation, laboratory, QC, or product development is a plus.
• Understanding of cement, polymers, resins, and related materials is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development on new products and improvement of existing products.
• Develop and optimize product formulas based on cement, polymer, epoxy, resin, coating, and related materials.
• Perform formula trials, laboratory trials, and scale-up trials towards production processes.
• Test raw materials and finished products according to determined standards and specifications.
• Analyze testing results and adjust formulas to achieve target product performance.
• Troubleshoot product issues in the laboratory, production, and field applications.
• Coordinate with Production, QC, Technical, Purchasing, and Marketing teams in product development.
• Create and maintain documentation of formulas, trial results, testing results, and technical data.
• Assist in preparing and developing TDS, MDS, product specifications, and other technical documents.
• Research new raw materials and evaluate alternative raw materials from suppliers.

Research & Development - Mortar & Flooring

This R&D position is responsible for the development, improvement, testing, and troubleshooting of LATICRETE building materials products. The role involves developing various products such as tile adhesive, mortar, grout, epoxy grout, waterproofing, flooring, coating, and other construction products, from formulation, trial, testing, evaluation to product implementation.

Key responsibilities

Conduct research and development on new products and improvement of existing products

Develop and optimize product formulas based on cement, polymer, epoxy, resin, coating, and related materials

Perform formula trials, laboratory trials, and scale-up trials towards production processes

Test raw materials and finished products according to determined standards and specifications

Analyze testing results and adjust formulas to achieve target product performance

Troubleshoot product issues in the laboratory, production, and field applications

Evaluate product quality and consistency across batches

Research new raw materials and evaluate alternative raw materials from suppliers

Coordinate with Production, QC, Technical, Purchasing, and Marketing teams in product development

Create and maintain documentation of formulas, trial results, testing results, and technical data

Assist in preparing and developing TDS, MDS, product specifications, and other technical documents

Conduct benchmarking and evaluation of competitor products to support product development

Provide technical support related to products as needed by Technical, Sales, or Marketing teams

Ensure product development follows company technical standards and procedures

About you

Minimum D3/S1 education, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields

Experience in R&D, formulation, laboratory, QC, or product development is a plus

Experience in building materials, mortar, grout, epoxy, waterproofing, flooring, coating, chemical, or construction materials industry is a plus

Understanding of basic formulation and material characteristics such as cement, sand, filler, polymer, additive, pigment, resin, and hardener

Ability to conduct laboratory testing, trials, analyze results, and troubleshooting

Detail-oriented with analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and good documentation capabilities

Able to work independently and in teams

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data processing and analysis

Willing to conduct trials and testing in laboratory and production areas

Willing to travel or visit projects/sites as needed
