Job summary

Inchcape Indonesia is seeking an Engineering Assistant Manager to join our Assembly team in Indonesia. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, solve production challenges, and deliver operational excellence in car assembly.

Key responsibilities include designing assembly line layouts, optimizing takt time, ensuring quality, monitoring automation and maintenance, developing SOPs, and leading localization projects to comply with local content regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Six Sigma/OSH certifications are a plus.
• Familiarity with automotive quality management systems (IATF 16949) or project management certifications.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Assembly Line Design: Configure layout of machines, robots, and stations to enable efficient car assembly using Lean principles.
• Cycle Time Optimization: Analyze and eliminate wasted time at each station to meet daily production targets (Takt Time).
• Product Quality Control: Ensure every assembly stage meets quality standards and achieves a zero-defect outcome.
• Automation and Maintenance: Monitor assembly robots, conveyors, and fastening tools; address issues during line stoppages.
• Work Standardization: Develop SOPs for operators to maintain consistency and safety.
• Component Localization: Lead localization projects to manufacture components locally and reduce logistics costs.

Our Assembly team is seeking a Engineering Assistant Manager to join our team in Indonesia. In this position you will work closely other cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, solve process challenges, and deliver operational excellence.

What you’ll do

• Assembly Line Design: Configuring the layout of machines, robots, and worker stations to ensure an efficient car assembly flow (applying Lean Manufacturing principles).
• Cycle Time Optimization: Analyzing and eliminating wasted time at each assembly station to meet daily production targets (Takt Time).
• Product Quality Control: Ensuring every assembly stage—such as body weld strength or the precision of glass installation; meets quality standards and achieves a "Zero Defect" outcome.
• Automation and Maintenance: Monitoring the performance of assembly robots, conveyor systems, and automatic fastening tools (nutrunners), and addressing technical issues during production line stoppages (Line Stop).
• Work Standardization: Developing clear written guidelines (Standard Operating Procedures/SOPs) for factory operators to maintain consistency and workplace safety.
• Component Localization: Leading localization projects (manufacturing components in the country where the factory is located) to reduce logistics costs and comply with local content regulations.

About You

• Education: Bachelor's degree (S1) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Additional Certifications (Optional but preferred): Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification or occupational safety certification (such as General K3 in Indonesia).
• Certifications in automotive quality management systems (such as IATF 16949) or project management certifications.
• Understanding of Measuring Instruments: Mastery of the use of precision measuring instruments and quality control tools (QC Tools).
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
• Additional language skills; such as Japanese, Korean, or Chinese; are a significant advantage at many automotive companies.
