Job summary

Ajaib Group is seeking a Staff/Principal Backend Engineer to drive architecture and technical direction of core platforms. You will work across multiple teams to build scalable, secure, and reliable distributed systems while ensuring performance and reliability as the company grows.

You will mentor engineers, set coding and design standards, and collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to deliver high-impact projects, while staying hands-on when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in building large-scale distributed systems and leading technical architecture across multiple domains.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, or other modern backend languages.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical architecture across multiple teams.
• Lead the design and evolution of scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Review critical designs and provide architectural guidance for high-impact initiatives.
• Establish best practices in software design, reliability, observability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with product, platform, infra, security, and business teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and grow technical capabilities across the org.
