Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education, Educational Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional qualification)
• Proven leadership experience in school management and curriculum development

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and vision for the school, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and educational objectives
• Overseeing curriculum development, implementation and continuous improvement to ensure high academic standards across all year levels
• Recruiting, supervising, and developing teaching and support staff, fostering a positive and professional working environment
• Ensuring compliance with educational regulations, policies and standards set by relevant authorities
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the local community to support student success
• Monitoring student progress, wellbeing and behaviour, implementing appropriate support systems and interventions
• Leading school improvement initiatives and responding to feedback from staff, students and families
• Managing school operations including facilities, health and safety, and administrative functions
• Representing the school at official functions and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders and other educational institutions

About the role

METRO SCHOOL MAKASSAR is seeking an experienced and visionary Principal to lead our school community. This is a contract position based in Makassar, South Sulawesi. As Principal, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, academic excellence, and overall operational management of the school. This is a pivotal leadership role that shapes the educational experience for our students and sets the tone for a thriving school culture. You will work collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and the wider community to ensure our school delivers outstanding educational outcomes and maintains its reputation as a leading educational institution in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and vision for the school, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and educational objectives

What we’re looking for

• A Master's degree in Education, Educational Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional qualification)
• Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in educational leadership, with at least 3-5 years in a principal or senior management role within a school setting
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional leadership and strategies for improving student achievement
• Strong financial management and budgeting skills, with experience in managing school resources effectively
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders including parents, staff, students and community members
• Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices and innovations in teaching and learning
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to data-driven improvement
• A commitment to inclusive education and supporting the wellbeing and diversity of all students
• Familiarity with Indonesian educational systems, regulations and standards is highly desirable
• Proficiency in English and Indonesian languages is essential
