Job summary

Alcon Indonesia seeks a Packaging Engineer to lead packaging and labeling solutions for our products in a regulated manufacturing environment. Work with vendors to validate packaging machines and ensure regulatory compliance while improving efficiency and sustainability.

The ideal candidate brings expertise in packaging design, materials selection, labeling systems, and packaging machinery validation within medical devices or pharmaceuticals, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Quality,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical packaging field or related engineering discipline.
2+ years’ experience in packaging engineering within regulated manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of packaging materials and performance characteristics.
Hands-on experience with packaging equipment and validation.
Familiarity with artwork management and labeling compliance.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and validation of packaging systems and labels.
Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain.
Oversee equipment validation and packaging process improvements.
Support root cause investigations and CAPA for packaging issues.
Ensure compliance with GxP, ISO standards and regulatory guidelines.

PackagingandLabelingEngineertoleadthedevelopment,validation,andexecutionofpackagingandlabelingsolutionsforourproducts.Thisroleinvolvesworkingwithvendorstobuildandvalidatingpackagingmachines,ensuringcompliancewithregulatoryrequirements,andoptimizingpackagingprocessestoimproveefficiencyandsustainability.Theidealcandidatewillbringexpertiseinpackagingdesign,materialselection,labelingsystems,andpackagingmachineryvalidation,particularlyinindustriessuchasmedicaldevicesandpharmaceuticals.

ManagerelatedequipmentandprocessvalidationsasrequiredundertheQualitysystemchangecontrolprocess.Coordinatetheintegrationofnewproductsandprocessesintothemanufacturingsystemsandprocesses.

PackagingDesign&Development

Design,develop,andoptimizepackagingsystems(pouches,blistertrays,cartons,labels,boxes,shrinkwraps,etc.)tomeetfunctional,quality,andregulatoryrequirements.

Conductmaterialevaluation,testing,andselectionwithconsiderationforcompatibility,sustainability,manufacturability,durability,andcost.

Leadorsupportroot‑causeinvestigationsandimplementimprovementsforpackaging-relatedperformanceissues.

Prototyping&ProcessDevelopment

Leadorcontributetoprototypedesign,assembly,testing,andlinetrialstovalidatenewpackagingconcepts.

Developandrefinepackagingmanufacturingprocesses,includingequipmentspecification,qualification,andvalidation.

CollaboratecloselywithEngineering,Operations,Quality,Regulatory,andSupplyChaintoensuresmoothtechnologytransfertoproduction.

Equipment,Systems&Automation

Overseeinstallation,commissioning,operation,andmaintenancereadinessofpackagingmachineryandinspectionsystems(e.g.,visionsystems,inlineverification).

Troubleshootequipmentorsystemperformanceanddrivecorrectiveandpreventiveactionstomaintainefficiencyandquality.

Quality,Compliance&Risk Management

Integratequalityassuranceandcontrolrequirementsintopackagingandprocessdesign.

Ensureadherencetotechnicalstandards,regulatoryguidelines,andglobalpackaging/labellingregulations.

Performorsupportriskassessments(pFMEA,QRA)forpackagingcomponentsandprocesses.

FollowGxP,SOPs,anddocumentationrequirementstoensurefulltraceabilityandauditreadiness.

Artwork&Labelling

Create,review,andmanageproductartworkwithintheArtworkManagementSystem.

Ensurelabellingaccuracyandregulatorycomplianceacrossallmarkets.

Supportchangecontrolprocessesrelatedtoartwork,packaging,andlabellingupdates.

Identifyandimplementimprovementsinpackagingrobustness,sustainability,cost,andmanufacturability.

Makeinformedtechnicaldecisionswithinyourareaandcontributetobroaderprojectandorganizationalobjectives.

WHATYOU’LLBRINGTOALCON:

Bachelor’sdegreeorhigherinPackagingEngineering,MechanicalEngineering,MaterialsScience,IndustrialEngineering,orrelatedtechnicalfield.
2+yearsofexperienceinpackagingengineering,ideallywithinmedicaldevice,pharmaceutical,orotherregulatedmanufacturingenvironments.
Strongunderstandingofpackagingmaterials(plastics,films,foils,paperboard,adhesives)andtheirperformancecharacteristics.
Hands‑onexperiencewithpackagingequipment,automationsystems,andvision/inspectionsystems(preferred).
Workingknowledgeofequipmentqualificationandprocessvalidation(IQ/OQ/PQ),aswellasdesigncontrols.
ExperiencewithCADtoolsandengineeringdocumentation(drawings,specifications,BOMs).
FamiliaritywithArtworkManagementSystemsandlabellingcompliancerequirements.
KnowledgeofGxP,ISO11607,FDA21CFRPart820,EUMDR,andotherrelevantregulatoryframeworks.
Abilitytoperformriskassessments(FMEA,QRA)andapplyqualitycontrolmethodologies.
Proficiencywithstatisticaltools(e.g.,Minitab)isaplus.
Excellentcommunicationskills,withtheabilitytoexplaintechnicalconceptstodiversestakeholders.
