Job summary

Saipem Indonesia is seeking a highly experienced Welding Inspector to perform offshore inspections on pipelay projects. You will verify welding parameters, review WPS/PQR, and witness tests to ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, API, ISO and DNV standards. Strong English and extensive offshore experience preferred.

Role requires on-site presence, including offshore or remote locations as needed, and delivers a comprehensive benefits package and competitive offshore allowances.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years as Welding Inspector in offshore/fabrication projects.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes, procedures and qualification requirements.
• Familiarity with welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API, ISO, DNV).
• CWI or equivalent certification (CSWIP, AWS CWI, IWI) valid and current.
• Excellent reading of WPS/PQR and inspection documents; good English.

• Conduct visual, line-up, fit-up inspections and material traceability checks.
• Review NDT reports and coordinate with NDT personnel.
• Prepare inspection reports, NCRs, and maintain records for As-Built docs.
• Liaise with production and client reps to resolve welding issues.

How can you support us? Here are below your responsibilities:

1. Perform welding inspections in accordance with approved Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) onboard offshore pipelaying vessels or at Line pipes double-jointing yard.
2. Verify welding parameters, consumables, and equipment calibration to ensure compliance with approved WPS.
3. Review and verify the validity of WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records prior to and during welding operations.
4. Witness mechanical testing, destructive testing, and other inspections related to welding activities.
5. Ensure welding, heat treatment, and hardness testing are carried out in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
6. Conduct visual inspections, pipeline line-up checks, fit-up inspections, and material traceability verification.
7. Review NDT reports (RT, UT, MT, PT) and coordinate with NDT personnel to ensure timely identification and disposition of defects.
8. Prepare accurate inspection reports, punch lists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain welding/inspection records for As-Built documentation.
9. Liaise with production, and client representatives to resolve welding-related issues and ensure inspection schedules are met.

What are we looking for?

1. Proven experience as a welding inspector for double-jointing/offshore pipelay operations involving CRA line pipes.
2. Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
3. Minimum 10 years of experience as a Welding Inspector in construction, fabrication, and/or offshore projects
4. Strong working knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and welder qualification requirements
5. Familiarity with relevant welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ISO, DNV)
6. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification (e.g., CSWIP, AWS CWI, IWI) - valid and current
7. Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and inspection documents
8. Experience conducting visual inspections and reviewing NDT reports (e.g., RT, UT, MT, PT)
9. Strong documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills
10. Good command of English, both written and verbal
11. Ability to work on-site, including offshore/remote locations as required
12. Attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and safety standards
