Job summary

Newtimes Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Apparel Merchandiser to lead end-to-end sourcing, costing, and delivery coordination with international buyers. Based in Jakarta or willing to relocate, you will partner with vendors, factories, and cross-functional teams to ensure quality, on-time production, and compliant costing.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years in apparel merchandising, strong negotiation and leadership skills, fluent English, and willingness to travel across Indonesia

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

To work independently with various parties such as vendors, design/technical teams, and other cross-functional partners to resolve critical issues arising from costing, merchandising, front-end merchandising product development workflow, and shipment delivery, in order to secure smooth production and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively work with the merchandising team, customers, vendors/factories, and cross-functional teams to ensure products are of high quality.
• Serve as a key point of contact for international buyers, translating their requirements into actionable plans for vendors and factories.
• Sustain good relationships with both internal and external parties to achieve overall development/production schedules and on-time delivery.
• Monitor and supervise order follow-up with subordinates, resolve production issues, and ensure on-time delivery and quality that meets requirements.
• Identify, develop, and negotiate with fabric, trim, and garment suppliers on pricing, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms.
• Work on cost planning and analysis to achieve costing that meets customer expectations.
• Work on risk assessment throughout the production process.
• Coordinate closely with QA/QC, logistics, design, and regional merchandising teams.
• Track market and material trends and feed insights back to buyers and HQ.
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching for subordinates on product knowledge, merchandising skills, and overall effectiveness.
• Prepare and present order status, WIP, and KPI reports to management.

Key Requirements:

• Indonesian citizen only, based in or willing to relocate to Jakarta is a MUST.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Textile or Clothing or related discipline.
• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in apparel merchandising, sourcing, or buying, including 2–3 years in a managerial or team‑lead capacity.
• Proven track record working with international apparel buyers/brands (US experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of garment production, fabric/trim sourcing, costing, and QA processes.
• Excellent negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written; Mandarin is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to factories/vendors across Indonesia or Overseas as required.
• Proficient in MS Office and merchandising/ERP systems
