Job summary

PT PHC Indonesia, a flagship manufacturing site for PHC Group medical devices, seeks a supplier development engineer to strengthen mechanical component sourcing. You will collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, and Production teams to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.

The role requires hands-on supplier evaluation, cost analysis, and communication with global suppliers in English.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 2 years in mechanical component development or supplier-related roles.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOM, and specifications.
• Experience with metal and plastic manufacturing processes.
• Experience with supplier development, quotations, tooling, prototyping, or mass production.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop suppliers for mechanical components based on capability, quality, cost, capacity, and delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to define component requirements and specifications.
• Support supplier selection, discussions, quotations, and sample evaluations through mass production readiness.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and processes for metal and plastic components (machining, molding, casting, etc.).
• Conduct cost analysis and evaluate cost structures; drive cost reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams on technical changes and manufacturability.
• Monitor supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance.
• Support sourcing for new product development and engineering changes meeting cost/quality targets.

Job Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for mechanical components and parts based on technical capability, quality, cost, capacity, and delivery performance.
• Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, and Production teams to understand component requirements, engineering drawings, BOM, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
• Support mechanical component/part development from supplier selection, technical discussion, quotation, and sample evaluation through mass production readiness.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and manufacturing processes for metal and plastic components, including machining, stamping, sheet metal, injection molding, casting, and related processes.
• Conduct material and component cost analysis, including quotation comparison and cost structure evaluation.
• Drive and support cost reduction / cost-down initiatives through alternative sourcing, material/process optimization, supplier negotiation, and value engineering.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal engineering teams regarding technical specifications, design changes, manufacturability, quality issues, and component improvements.
• Conduct supplier evaluation and support supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance monitoring.
• Support sourcing activities for new product development and engineering changes, ensuring component requirements meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical component/part development, sourcing engineering, supplier development, product development, or a closely related engineering role.
• Hands-on experience developing, selecting, evaluating, or improving mechanical components/parts is required.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes for metal and plastic components.
• Experience working with suppliers/manufacturers for component development, quotation, tooling, prototyping, sampling, or mass production is highly preferred.
• Understanding of material/component cost analysis, supplier evaluation, and cost reduction.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and cost-conscious mindset.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, is a must.
