Job summary

Uluwatu Estate in Bali seeks a Commis Chef / Junior Cook to support the Kitchen Department under the Chef de Partie. You will assist with mise en place, basic cooking tasks, and help maintain consistency in taste and presentation for villa guests.

This role requires at least 1 year in a similar position, a culinary certificate or SMA/SMK in Hospitality, strong knife skills, and the ability to work calmly under pressure.

Qualifications

• Minimum SMA/SMK in Hospitality/Culinary or relevant culinary certificate.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Commis Chef or Cook Helper in a 5-star hotel, luxury resort, or premium villa/restaurant.
• Strong knife skills and understanding of cooking methods (HACCP).
• Able to work quickly and effectively under pressure with good time management.
• Willing to work on weekends or national holidays.
• Resident in Bali or willing to be placed in Uluwatu/Badung area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients (mise en place): wash, peel, cut, and weigh food materials according to recipes and quality standards.
• Assist with cooking components for hot kitchen and cold kitchen operations under supervision from Chef de Partie.
• Ensure taste, portion, and visual presentation remain consistent before serving to villa guests.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene of personal work station, equipment, and refrigeration units.
• Check freshness of raw materials, rotate stock using FIFO, and report missing or damaged ingredients.
• Apply workplace safety procedures in the kitchen to prevent accidents.
• Support kitchen operations during special events (weddings/private events) held at Uluwatu Estate.
