Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an experienced Substation Design Lead to drive technical analysis during tendering, deliver principal design, and ensure compliance with international electrical standards.

The role requires coordinating with procurement, site teams, and subcontractors, managing design processes, and promoting quality and timely delivery across multiple locations worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience in AC substation design.
• Willingness to travel worldwide.
• Knowledge of transmission & distribution systems.
• Understanding of project execution from tendering through commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical analysis and strategy during the tendering stage, addressing cost, time, delivery, resources, risks, and opportunities, and provide the best cost‑time‑effective solution for design realization.
• Deliver principal design and review detailed design, validating design quality to meet project requirements and international electrical engineering standards, ensuring compliance with applicable local EHS regulations.
• Ensure on‑time delivery of works within budget and meet quality requirements as stipulated in the contract.
• Liable for technical compliance and design consistency, resolve technical issues with the customer, and make decisions satisfactory to customer requirements.
• Govern the quality procedure throughout the design process, ensuring accountability of design documentation, records of changes, and traceability of impacts.
• Manage design processes with third parties or subcontractors to ensure quality of work meets project requirements.
• Support procurement, site team, and subcontractor/manufacturer or third party by providing reference documents, conducting design reviews, offering technical support, and preparing method statements.
• Empower and inspire young engineers within the team to grow, deliver the works, and build team spirit for improved performance.

To provide basic design, manage detailed execution, and deliver required engineering documents for procurement, manufacturing, and site erection. To deliver proper performance of design considering man‑days, deadlines, and quality, promoting ease of installation, operation, and maintenance of the system in line with contractual requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• More than 10 years’ experience in AC substation design.
• Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium periods and to travel worldwide when required.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering for transmission & distribution and industrial network systems.
• Basic knowledge of transmission & distribution project execution process, from tendering through engineering, procurement, site execution, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning stages.
