Job summary

Princess Cruises is seeking a Jr Waiter (Japanese Speaking) to support dining service on board. The role involves assisting in table settings, delivering meals, and ensuring guest satisfaction with a welcoming attitude.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in high-end hospitality, solid knowledge of menus, and fluency in English and Japanese. This fixed term contract location is shipboard in Indonesia, with opportunities for growth and travel.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized Catering / Hotel Management School preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of restaurant service experience from four-star hotel or cruise ship.
• Knowledge of food, beverage and wine menus used throughout the fleet.
• Able to explain pricing, food, wine, and cocktails to guests.
• Ability to work under pressure in Front and Back of House areas.
• Embodiment of guest service with clear communication.
• Command of English and Japanese languages.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Waiter to create a comfortable, elegant ambiance by preparing table settings and maintaining service stations.
• Assist the Waiter to deliver food and beverages on time and in the correct service order, following up to meet guest needs.
• Provide a warm, welcoming first impression with a professional appearance.
• Foster lasting guest connections by staying engaged during service.
• Anticipate guest needs and adjust service accordingly.
• Follow all Company guidelines, policies, and USPH protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists the Waiter to create a comfortable, elegant ambiance by always preparing table settings and maintaining service stations in line with all Company standards.
• Assists the Waiter to deliver food and beverages as requested, on time, in the correct service order, follows up to ensure each guest’s needs have been met and suggests solutions to any issues.
• Provides a positive first impression to every guest through a warm, welcoming individual greeting; always maintains a clean and professional appearance.
• Nurtures a lasting connection with every guest by always showing genuine interest during service and remaining fully engaged throughout the voyage.
• Always observes and identifies guest preferences and adjusts service accordingly, anticipating guest’s needs and offering appropriate responses without the guest having to ask.
• Always follows all Company guidelines, policies, and procedures, including USPH protocols.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Graduate of a recognized Catering / Hotel Management School preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of restaurant service experience from four-star hotel or cruise ship
• Knowledge of food, beverage and wine menus used throughout the fleet
• Able to adequately explain pricing, food, wine, and cocktail menus to guests
• Ability to work under pressure, in both Front and Back of House areas
• Necessary computer skills and knowledge of P.O.S. systems
• Command of the English language, both verbal and written .
• Command of the Japanese language, both verbal and written.
