Job summary

Princess Cruises is seeking a Waiter (Japanese Speaking) for PT Alpha Magsaysay in Indonesia. The role is a fixed term contract within the Restaurant Department aboard our ships, with duties delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests and supporting wine pairings.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in premium dining or cruise service, fluency in English and Japanese, and strong knowledge of menu explanations, wine/service operations, and POS systems.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized Catering / Hotel Management School (Preferred).
• Two to five years of restaurant service experience on a cruise ship or at least 5 years of fine dining service from premium restaurants and/or luxury hotels (5 stars).
• Able to explain pricing, food, wine, and cocktail menus to guests.
• Knowledge of fine dining operations and excellent restaurant service.
• Strong communicator with personable social skills to interact with diverse guests.
• Necessary computer skills and knowledge of POS systems.
• Command of English and Japanese language, both verbal and written.

• Creates a comfortable ambiance by preparing table settings and maintaining service stations to company standards.
• Explains menu items and offers wine pairings.

• Maximizes wine and beverage sales by offering suitable choices.
• Gives a warm welcome and maintains a professional appearance.
• Engages with guests throughout the voyage and supports junior staff with coaching.

• Always delivers food and beverages as requested, promptly, in the correct service order, follows up to ensure each guest's needs have been met and suggests solutions to any issues.
• Maximizes wine and beverage sales by invitingly offering suitable choices.
• Provides a positive first impression to every guest through a warm, welcoming individual greeting; always maintains a clean and professional appearance.
• Nurtures a lasting connection with every passenger by always showing genuine interest during service and remaining fully engaged throughout the voyage.
• Encourages and supports the growth, engagement, and development of the Junior Waiter by providing targeted coaching and training in all aspects of the role.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Graduate of a recognized Catering / Hotel Management School (Preferred).
• Two to five years of restaurant service experience on a cruise ship or in alternative at least 5 years of fine dining service from premium restaurants and/or luxury hotels (5 stars).
• Able to adequately explain pricing, food, wine, and cocktail menus to the guests
• Knowledge of fine dining operations and excellent restaurant service.
• Strong communicator with personable social skills to actively interact with a variety of guest demographics.
• Necessary computer skills and knowledge of P.O.S. systems.
• Command of the English and Japanese language, both verbal and written.
