Job summary

The Head of Mining Operations is the senior site leadership role responsible for directing all underground mining activities in a remote FIFO PNG operation. You will drive mine development, production planning, contractor management, and workforce capability while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

You will partner with Technical Services, Geology, Processing and Executive Management to optimize performance, manage large multidisciplinary teams, and foster a high‑performance safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field.
• PNG Metalliferous Mine Manager's CoC or eligibility to obtain one.
• Minimum 10 years underground mining experience with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Proven experience leading underground mining operations within remote FIFO environments.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning, production scheduling, ground support, and ventilation.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for underground mining operations and safe, efficient execution of development, production, ground support, and mine services.
• Collaborate with Technical Services and Geology to develop and execute long-term mine plans.
• Champion safety leadership with full compliance to mining legislation and safety systems.
• Manage departmental budgets, costs, CAPEX, and cost optimization.
• Oversee contractor performance to meet productivity and safety targets.
• Lead and develop Mining Superintendents, Shift Bosses, and engineers.
• Monitor production performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Foster collaboration across mine operations and support functions to achieve site goals.
