Job summary

The Head of Mining Operations is the senior site leader responsible for directing all underground mining activities in a remote PNG operation, ensuring safe, productive, and commercially successful production. The role requires strategic leadership for mine development, production planning, contractor management, and workforce capability, with strict adherence to safety standards and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
Valid PNG Metalliferous Mine Manager's CoC or eligible to obtain one.
10 years underground mining experience with 5+ years in senior leadership.
Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for underground mining operations, including development, production, ground support, and ventilation.
Develop and execute short-, mid-, and long-term mine plans aligned with targets.
Ensure compliance with mining legislation and safety systems.
Manage budgets, costs, and capex planning.
Oversee contractor performance and safety compliance.
Mentor Mining Superintendents and Supervisors.
Monitor production performance and drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with technical services, geology, processing, and management to optimize site performance.
