Job summary

ib vogt APAC seeks a Grid Solutions Manager to oversee the engineering and design of grid connections for solar projects in the Asia Pacific region. The role combines technical leadership with project coordination across external stakeholders to ensure efficient execution and scheduling.

Responsibilities include engaging with utilities, coordinating contractors and consultants, and delivering documentation for lenders and advisers, with English and Indonesian language proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related energy technology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in grid connections for power plants.
• International experience in grid connections across APAC.
• Knowledge of Indonesian PLN interconnection requirements and Kepmen ESDM regulations.
• PII/STRI registration preferred where applicable.
• Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with grid simulation tools.

• Participate in projects from conceptual phase to operation across the Asia Pacific region.
• Lead engineering and design of grid connections.
• Support project development with technical expertise in early stages.
• Qualify and manage external engineering consultants.
• Specify and coordinate technical aspects of tendering interconnection infra projects to sub-contractors.
• Coordinate sub-contractors during design and execution with the on-site team across APAC.
• Aggregate, manage, and produce documentation for management, clients, lenders and advisers.
• Meet with utilities and stakeholders in the APAC region for technical discussions.
• Coordinate with third party technical advisors.
• Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Job description

The Grid Solutions Manager is a hybrid engineering and management role who would manage the engineering and designing organizations of the grid connections for medium to large scale solar projects and have oversight of the effective and efficient execution of grid projects by coordinating with different external stakeholders to develop the project schedules, address technical issues and designs, and to work with internal stakeholders to forecast work and develop a schedule of execution.

Key Responsibilities

The scope of works / duties and responsibilities for this role include the following but not limited to:

• Participate in projects from the conceptual phase until operation across the Asia Pacific region.
• Take on engineering and design of grid connections.
• Support the project development with technical expertise during the early stages of projects and new markets across the Asia Pacific region.
• Qualify and manage external engineering consultants.
• Specify and coordinate the technical aspects of tendering interconnection infrastructure projects to sub-contractors.
• Coordinate sub-contractors during design and execution of projects in cooperation with the on-site team across Asia Pacific region.
• Aggregating, managing and producing documentation and information for management, clients, lenders and advisers.
• Meet with utilities and stakeholders within the Asia Pacific region for technical discussions.
• Coordination and communication with third party technical advisors.
• Other ad hoc as assigned.

Requirements

• Academic degree in the area of electrical engineering, renewable energies or similar with a focus on energy technology.
• Minimum of 5-years of experience in the related field.
• International experience in the field of grid connection of power plants from medium up to extra-high voltage level.
• Working knowledge of PT PLN (Persero) interconnection requirements, SPLN grid codes, and the Indonesian renewable energy regulatory framework (including relevant Kepmen ESDM regulations) is highly advantageous.
• Degree accreditation recognized by Indonesian authorities (e.g. BAN-PT or equivalent) preferred, particularly where PII/STRI registration will be pursued.
• Competent use of MS Office applications.
• Knowledge in grid compliance studies and usage of simulation software (PowerFactory or PSS/E) are welcome.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn.
• Languages: English & Indonesia
• Open to Indonesian nationals; work permit / RPTKA sponsorship considered for exceptional candidates.
