Job summary

Soechi Group, a premier tanker operator in Indonesia, seeks a Senior Technical Superintendent/Chief Engineer to lead maintenance, dry docking, and repair programs across the fleet. You will drive PMS discipline, energy efficiency initiatives, and lifecycle cost control while ensuring compliance with Class/Flag, ISM, MLC, and MARPOL standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in maritime studies with COC Class 1 Marine Engineer / ATT-1.
• Experience as Chief Engineer on board at least 2 contracts.
• Fleet/Technical Superintendent experience 3–4 years.
• Proven dry dock/survey management, reliability improvement, and budget control.
• Knowledge of tanker systems, automation/electrical, and class/statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance and repair budgets, survey schedules, and onboard assessments.
• Attend vessel dry docking, repairs, and define repair specifications.
• Ensure vessels meet class/flag, PSC compliance, and budget targets.
• Identify maintenance needs and ensure spare parts inventory at safe levels.
• Evaluate dry-docking and select shipyards; oversee repair quality to class standards.
• Conduct monthly vessel condition reviews and monitor class certificates and surveys.
• Maintain zero loss time accident record and report incidents to prevent recurrence.
• Prepare annual budgets for vessel maintenance across routine and major works.

Job description

Responsible to oversee overall maintenance of the vessel, ensuring smooth operation of the vessel from technical point of view by providing comprehensive maintenance. Manage vessel overall condition such as cost-effective technical performance of assigned tanker vessels. Ensure compliance with Class/Flag and international conventions (ISM, MLC, MARPOL), drive PMS discipline, plan and execute dry dockings and major repairs, support vetting readiness, and improve asset integrity, energy efficiency, and lifecycle cost across the fleet.

Key responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard general assessment of vessels, inspections and docking

Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational or otherwise managed accordingly to the management agreement requirement (Budget, Vessel Utilization etc.)

Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance

Identify vessel need in term of maintenance, parts required and ensure spare on inventory at least at safe level

Perform evaluation for dry-docking, repair quotes and selection of shipyards for repair works, ship maintenance etc.

Perform thorough check to each repaired items on board, ensuring repair quality are met with class standard

Perform monthly review of vessel condition and conduct vessel inspections if needed - Monitor technical status of vessel with relation to class cert. and survey

Ensure and maintain vessels zero loss time accident record and to report all vessel incidents, near Misses to prevent and eliminate potential incidents

Prepare annual budget for vessel maintenance taking care of (routine, incidental, parts and any overall maintenance/repair activity)

About you

Degree from maritime studies, with COC Class 1 Marine Engineer / ATT-1

Having experience as Chief Engineer on board at least 2 contract, preferable candidate with superintendent experience with substantial sea-going engineering background on tankers

Experience as Fleet/Technical Superintendent at least 3-4 years

Proven track record in dry dock/survey management, reliability improvement, and budget management

Solid knowledge of tanker systems (cargo pumps/IGS/boilers), automation/electrical, and class/statutory

Familiar with OCIMF/SIRE 2.0, TMSA, and PSC processes

Vast knowledge for Vessel operation, machineries troubleshoot and repair

Good communication skills and proficient in English
