Job summary

PT CTCI International Indonesia is seeking a seasoned Fire Protection Engineer to lead design activities for process facilities in Jakarta. You will develop fire protection philosophies and prepare P&ID, fire water demand, alarm layouts, and equipment specifications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project timelines and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical/ mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering consultant or EPC contractor.
• Experience in bidding activities is an advantage.
• FEED experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of engineering practices and relevant safety design codes (NFPA, SNI).
• Ability to prepare design basis, P&ID, and specifications for fire protection systems.
• Good knowledge of fire pump selection.
• Proficient in PIPENET Vision software.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
• Professional working proficiency in English; Mandarin an advantage.
• Willing to be assigned to site if required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Lead Engineer to align design scope and objectives.
• Review project requirements, specs, codes, and participate in design reviews.
• Support planning and execution by attending meetings and QA/verification.
• Develop fire protection philosophies and system specifications.
• Develop and review P&ID, fire water demand, layouts, and datasheets.
• Perform hydraulic calculations using PIPENET.
• Prepare technical requisitions and bid evaluations.
• Collaborate with mechanical, piping, electrical, and control teams.
• Contribute to bidding inputs and meet timelines and cost targets.
• Support procurement, construction, and commissioning with technical input.
• Assist testing and commissioning, site visits, and address field queries.
• Identify issues and risks and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Job description

1. Collaborate with the Lead Engineer to align the design scope and objectives.

2. Review project requirements, technical specifications, and applicable codes and standards, and participate in design reviews and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance.

3. Support project planning and execution by engaging in relevant meetings, performing necessary quality assurance and design verification activities.

4. Develop philosophies and specifications for fire protection systems (active/passive).

5. Develop and review engineering documents, including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), fire water demand, fire protection layout drawings, fire alarm layout drawings, fire protection equipment specifications and datasheets.

6. Conduct hydraulic calculation using PIPENET software.

7. Prepare technical requisition and bid evaluation.

8. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control, to achieve fully integrated system design and execution.

9. Contribute to the preparation of technical input during bidding activities and support execution to meet defined timelines and cost targets.

10. Provide technical input and support throughout procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

11. Assist in testing and commissioning activities, including site visits and surveys, and provide technical support during construction by addressing site queries and reviewing on-site conditions.

12. Proactively identify technical issues and risks and take both corrective and preventive actions to resolve and mitigate them.

13. Contribute to continuous improvement within the discipline and organization, including development of work instructions, design guidelines, and value engineering initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

1. Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering consultant or EPC contractor.

3. Experience in bidding activities is an advantage.

4. Experience in FEED is an advantage.

5. Good understanding of engineering practices and relevant safety design codes (e.g., NFPA, SNI, etc.).

6. Ability to prepare design basis, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and specifications for fire protection systems.

7. Good knowledge for fire pump selection.

8. Proficient in PIPENET Vision software.

9. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

10. Strong interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail.

11. Professional working proficiency (both written and spoken) in English is required for technical reporting and group-level coordination. Proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage.
