Job summary

World Resources Institute in Jakarta seeks a Consultant as Critical Mineral Analyst for the Climate, Economics and Finance (CEF) program. The role focuses on ESG in the minerals sector, data-driven research, and stakeholder engagement to strengthen supply chain resilience.

The position requires 4+ years in research or policy related to mining, ESG, and climate. Hybrid work with 8 in-office days per month; Indonesia work authorization required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, geoscience, mining engineering, environmental science or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant research or policy experience in mining, minerals, environment, or sustainability.
• Strong understanding of critical mineral supply chains and ESG issues.
• Technical and policy understanding of climate policy frameworks and emissions reporting.
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Sheets, R, Python, STATA, Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience with workshops/FGDs and stakeholder documentation.
• Experience coordinating with government, industry, academia, NGOs.
• Business proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Willingness to travel; legally able to work in Indonesia.

Responsibilities

• Develop research frameworks on ESG in the critical minerals sector to support responsible development.
• Translate principles into actionable commitments, policies, and practices.
• Contribute to ESG guidelines for Indonesia’s critical mineral sector through research and drafting.
• Conduct field visits, stakeholder consultations, interviews, and focus groups to inform findings.
• Collaborate with teams to develop knowledge products—reports, briefs, data tools, blogs.
• Disseminate findings through reports and presentations for government, industry, and stakeholders.
• Present findings at workshops, consultations, and public forums.
