Job summary

Arup Jakarta is seeking a Designer/Architect to join the Cities, Planning & Design team. You will contribute on rail projects across Indonesia and SE Asia as a Project Architect, handling concept design through design development with strong emphasis on rail and delivery expertise.

You will create urban design concepts, visuals, and technical drawings while ensuring high-quality documentation and collaboration within the team.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Architecture.
• Membership of professional institutions desirable.
• 3–5 years of experience at leading design practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concept designs, detailed drawings at all scales and project stages.
• Develop urban design concepts, diagrams, and presentation materials.
• Support documentation, presentations and drawings to Arup standards.
• Manage project components and oversee junior staff for quality delivery.
• Represent the team at meetings and prepare correspondence and reports.

Based in Jakarta as part of the regional Architecture team, this role supports rail projects across Indonesia and Southeast Asia, contributing as a Project Architect through concept and design development stages while leveraging strong rail and project delivery experience.

The Opportunity

Prepare concept designs, detailed architectural drawings at all scales and project stages, and produce space proofing diagrams, architectural reports, and visualizations.

Develop urban design and planning concepts, including drawings, diagrams, reports, and presentation materials across a range of projects.

Support team leaders, architects, and planners in the preparation of high-quality project documentation, presentations, and detailed drawings in line with Arup’s standards.

Manage assigned project components with minimal supervision, including planning and overseeing the work of junior staff to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.

Represent the team at external meetings, author non-standard correspondence and reports, contribute to internal initiatives, and provide guidance, training, and feedback to support team development.

Is this role right for you?

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Architecture, or a related discipline.

Membership of relevant professional institutions or progress toward professional accreditation is desirable.

At least with 3-5 years’ experience at leading design practices with a strong career focus on design and project delivery

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Capability in Rhino, AutoCAD, or SketchUp.

Familiarity or exposure to planning and development contexts within Southeast Asia considered advantageous.

Proficient in BIM and Autodesk Revit and Microsoft office tools
